Be Mine!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone.

This has been a crazy week.  We just got back from a week in Las Vegas.  We started getting back into our routine and then we had Snowmaggedon 2014.  Everything was shut down yesterday.  Today everyone is dealing with the aftermath of the snow and ice and some businesses are open and some are closed or opening late.

Yesterday morning we awoke to a substantial amount of snow.

This measurement was taken on the front porch of Crest Avenue.  Ten inches of snow for those of us in the mid-Atlantic is substantial.  Later in the day it warmed up a bit to just over the freezing mark but then plummeted back down into the twenties overnight.  Of course all that melted during the afternoon froze overnight.  So this morning things were a mess.

I took this picture at the Cheverly Metro Station this morning.  You can see they did a good job of clearing the drop-off lanes.  But the snow piled up and it will take a few days, if not a week, for all of this to melt. Current forecasts say we will have temperatures in the 50's next week.  Hopefully some nice spring weather will move in.  I know we are only halfway through February, but we could use some warm days just about now.  We would even settle for temperatures at freezing since most of our winter has been spent in the single digits, teens and twenties.
