Our Trip to PetSmart

Since we are on the subject of Baxter today, we made a run to PetSmart yesterday afternoon to pick up some food for the most famous little doggy in Cheverly.

We started him on the Blue Buffalo brand of food from the time he was a puppy.  It was important to me that he have the most nutritious food available.  Just like if I were feeding a child.  I would want my children to consume food that was healthy and nutritious.  There are lots of good brands of food on the market and you should spend some time researching them before making your decision on which to feed your pet.

While browsing through the Blue Buffalo aisle, I found these cans of Turducken.  How could I resist.  This will be mixed in with his dry Blue Buffalo kibble in the evening.

In the morning, he enjoys this refrigerated dog food call FreshPet.  You slice each portion.  I then cut it into smaller pieces so that he can eat it with ease.  You can do this in advance and keep snap-top containers in the refrigerator.  That way it is easy each morning to just reach in and retrieve his breakfast already cubed and place it in his bowl.  A word of advice - do not buy ahead and freeze these.  It does not harm the food but the texture is strange after you thaw it.  How do I know.  Because I did just that.  It gets very mealy and is difficult to slice afer it has been frozen.  They have a long shelf life in the refrigerator as is, so you can buy ahead.  Just don't freeze it.

Of course, what would a trip to PetSmart be without picking up some treats as well.  These are the Science Diet brand, which is another trusted name in pet food and treats.  He got a bag of these Training Treats and a bag of Beef Jerky treats.  We like these because they are made and distributed in the U.S.A.  We have become very suspect of treats made in foreign countries after news reports of pets becoming ill after consuming these treats.

So, we are well stocked now for the coming weeks.  Because, if Baxter ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!
