Look at this beautiful table of baked goods wrapped in glossy Easter colors and tied with ribbons. I thought this was a gorgeous presentation. So simple.
I was curious as to what these were. I first thought they were Stollen. So I asked the lady in the shop and she told me that they were not Stollen but more closely resembled a Dutch Passbrood. Stollen is a bread-like fruitcake made with yeast, water and flour, and usually with zest added to the dough. Dutch Passbrood (Dutch Easter Bread) is a traditional Easter loaf from the Netherlands and is filled with a sweet almond paste and studded with golden raisins and candied lemon peel. Doesn't that sound delicious?
